I absolutely recommened natural products and food for animals. There is no need for anything else. I fed my dogs fresh raw meat and bones, and used natural treatments for fleas - ones you make yourself with essential oils, herbs etc... And they never had any of those problems.

You can also manage their environment naturally. Ants eats fleas and flea eggs for example. So pesticiding the backyard can sometime remove the 'good' insects too.
