Now sorry for my noobiness but what is MS? the only thing I could think of is ms as in milliseconds of response time. is that what you meant or is it something else for CRTs? [/QUOTE]You don't have to worry about ms in CRTs. That is an LCD monitor designation.

I'd agree with all the above comments, except that it looks like it's hard to get an lcd monitor with a bad response time these days! I've seen 4ms ones last time I was browsing - my two year old Viewsonic one with a 16ms response time displays first person shooters and other fast games with no motion blur, so I really wouldn't worry about that.

Watch out for your blacks as someone else mentioned - its really worth trying to get a look at one in a shop, even if you don't buy it from there. It is a pain and it's the one thing I would say CRTs do better (and I moved from a gorgeous Iiyama one) - the backlight basically means that black never really is 100% black.

The solution to this is a glossy screen, the Sony X-Black ones in particular have stunning contrast and true blacks, but if you'll be using it where the sun shines onto it then it will probably be a bit reflective. You'll also pay a serious premium, as with all Sony kit.

Dead pixels are less of an issue these days, stick with a known make and you should be ok.

Manufacturers offer vastly different warranties re dead pixels (Viewsonic was really good a couple of years ago when I got mine) so it's worth investigating that if it bothers you. Watch out for the wording in your warranties though, what you might call a 'dead' pixel may actually be a 'stuck' pixel and thus not covered.

oh I knew that, it's only that he was talking about CRTs and suddenly mentioned MS so I thought it might be something else.

Thanks for all your imput. I'll be coming back to Poland in a few days and will be buying the PC then. Might have more questions (regarding monitors or otherwise) then. Price is also an issue (I'm trying to fit within 1500-1800 euro for everything), so I'm more inclined towards CRTs.
