Something better pops up, or i'm in deep shit.
Does your brother have a spare room where he lives? If he's going to essentially evict his own kin the least he can do is put them up until they find a new place...

That's not an option Aaron, trust me. I would explain, but it's a too damn long story. And it's not just me, my (our) mother also lives in a house which he owns, same story. She turns 60 this year, and now she too can go on the lookout for a new place to live. I feel even worse that she has to go through all this.

Well, as you say it's a long story and I am totally ignorant of it all. But this doesn't sound like an incredibly peachy state of affairs.
As weird as it may feel at first, have you thought of looking for a place with your mother? I mean, what sort of places are more numerous in the netherlands? 2-3 bedroom units or single-bedroom? If it's the former then maybe you could make a temporary set up with your mother in a new place until you're able to find a place of your own.
I feel your pain bro. I'll have to go flat-hunting in a month or two. Rent prices in the city I live in have hiked way up to exploit the renewed demand on Dunedin real estate. What's more, the quality and quantity of flats in Dunedin hasnt gone up at all, so there's always a mad scramble to sort out next-year's lease around August/September.
Hang in there. Something will come up. It may not be what you're used to. But you'll get through, no sweat

I don't want that, and neither does she. It's not that we can't stand being around eachother, but we are two completely different people. Put me and my mom in the same room for 24 hours, and there will be arguing. Besides, i need my space, and so does she.

I know something will pop up eventually, but it's just so damn unexpected. I've done some pretty stupid things in the past, lost an appartment AND a girlfriend because i had more interrests in gambling/drugs/alcohol than in important things, but losing a house because of someone else's fault is completely new to me, and a little hard to swallow to be honest.

Yeah, I figured the 'living with mother' idea would be a long-shot I'm the same. I love my dear old mum, but I can't live with her

When you let someone else down, it's easy to see the things you did wrong and make efforts to make amends. When someone let's you down, there's not much you can do other than hope that they too will try to fix things up.
Well, good luck bro. All the best!

Well for the most part I live paycheck to pay check. But when I get extra money I always put it into a seperate savings account. And try to forget about it. And when something comes up I have a little money to get me through or if something does not come up lets say after a few months then I invest it. I usally by a GIC for my Daughter so when see needs to go to school there will be money for her. But I usally have access to some kind of money I also have stocks from the company that I work for. I could cash them in if I need money. And I never touch my RRSP's.

Paycheck to Paycheck, that's me. Sometimes I can save up some money but something eventually will come up that takes most of it away, so I never really get that much ahead of the game LOL.
