Same here, I just make sure to change to 800x600 every so often to make sure it looks OK and does not have the annoying bottom scrollbar (the bane of developers and users).

Many people still use 800x600 and you should ask yourself Are you designing your web site for the average Joe, or a select audience who you know will have resolutions at 1024*768? Usually the answer is the later as it is for customers whom you are not sure what the screen resolution will be.

I'm currently creating it with 800*600 in mind and and it works out OK. Tables are really nice for this stuff. Also with (iframe) I can keep out the vertical scrollbar as well except for the cell where it's needed.

800x600 is by far the best way to go - this way you'll make life easy for 97% of web users. I've researched the whole screen resolution thing recently myself, and overall it seems that something like 48% of browsers are set to 800x600, and 45% to 1024x768. So if you adjust your site to fit the former, you'll be able to encompass nearly everybody.

I made it so it fits in a 800*600 screen but it looks better in 1024*768 (no scrolling). Problem is my teacher doesn't put online what the requirements are so I can't put it up yet

I would suggest working to the lowest common dominator, that way your site will reach the widest possible audience. But if it's for a specialist area, you should go for what fits best for the target area.

I would not change my resoloution for a website for the simple reason that it re-arranges my desktop icons.

that's a good reason. Stupid thing is I created this website with 800*600 in mind but forgot the stupid lycos ads I think I'll just search another host without ads for that part and have all the downloads and the forum on lycos.
