Eddings is by far the best author I have read. His stories are good, His characters are well developed and likeable. The interaction betweeen them is well done. And Eddings is easy to read. And of all the authors, he has the most consistent and well developed world. Unfortunately, The Belgariad/Mallorean and Elenium/Tamuli although very different end up being the same idea in the end.

Robert Jordan: How I love to hate him. The Wheel of Time series was supposed to be a trilogy, so why are we now on book ten or something absurd? The story is so convoluted and complicated now that you forget most of it while you're reading it. I read the first three books, then the fourth. But in the wait between the fourth and the fifth, I forgot some of the story, so I reread them. Then when the seventh came out I had to do it again. I refuse to read them again until he FINISHES the darn saga.

That's what I like about the series, it never end! I hope he will write at least 20 of them, I never want it to end.

Why should he stop writing them? The characters are good, the setting is very nice, and there is always something new added. I like the complexity in the novels, it make it more realistic. Life is not simple, you rarely only get one problems at a time, and the characters in his book have lots of problems and things to do.

Some peole did not like his latest book as much, but personally, book 7-9 where my favorite ones.

It's just like R.A. Salvatore'S Drizzt series. I see no one complaining that he keep writing more. But in the drizzt series, the characters only ever get one quest/goal/problem at a time, and I don't like that as much, it is too simple.

I've never read any of those. They all seemed like they'd be to serious and I prefer stories with a lot of humor. If I'm wrong let me know; I'm running out of good books to choose from lately and would like some good ones to pick from.

A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite series, but it is serious, and quite depressing at time, but the suspense is very good.

I would recommend the Wheel of Time series, it is not very humorous as far as I remember, but it is not a hard read. It is not too serious either.

I know that many people love David Eddings, but he drives me crazy. Maybe his characters are reat, but I would strongly disagree that his fantasy world is that great. IMHO, it's too simple. And yes, he wrote two long series and yes, they were exactly the same in the end.

Disagree if you like, but constructively please.

And I really like Jordon, though I do get sick of how each character has "characteristic actions". I have ceased to read any paragraph that contain any variation on the words "he scratched his short beard and wondered if he would ever get used to it". But I've read all 10 books at least 2-3 times, dork that I am.

Luvian, Volume 10 of the Wheel of Time series is not out yet. But there is an illustrated big-format book, called the World of The Wheel of Time or some such, detailing the history, geography, biography,... of the series. Maybe that's the 10th book Mr. Mopery was refering to.
