Well personnaly id like to keep it simple, buried in a simple casket, , tucked in the corner of the cemetery in my town, simple gravestone, nothing grand. That and i want laughter at my funeral, no tears laughter, and no wake, the last impression i want on my family is my dead body, changed and covered with make up, so that i seem happy now that im dead. HAHA what a happy subject

Well I figure hospital and science can have as much of my body as they want - might was well be useful 'cause I won't be needing it anymore. Then whatever's left can be cremated - to me, space is for the living. As for a funeral, well, funerals are for the grieving not for the benefit of the dead so my family and friends can do whatever they like. I'm not sure what I'd like done wih my ashes - I feel like it should be something dramatic or romantic or at least interesting. Hmm... oooh taken up into space would be awesome.

I am not sure what I want for a funeral, but I have told my wife that I am going to put in my will that if she wants everything then she is going to have to stand up in front of everyone at the reading of the will and sing the "I'm a little tea pot" song, with all the moves and everything. I will give a small ammount of money to a bunch of people she knows so they have to show up to the reading of the will. Maybe I will make them all do the song if they want the money. Mirth is better then grief.

I'd prefer to be cremated and have my ashes returned to earth or sea, so long as the ashes would nourish something rather than polluting.
Dagorian, I'm equally incredulous why you'd prefer to be pickled, placed in a steel gauge casket which is then lowered into a concrete vault. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, this is NOT. Not only does your body not return to the earth or any form of usefulness, your corpse now is taking up landspace. Many cities and towns have more square footage dedicated to "cities of the dead" than adequate space for the living. What's the point? That which makes you you is no longer there. And I certainly grant God enough omnipotence to be able to put me back together again from ashes should a day of resurrection ever come. Well, that's my wee humble opinion, for what it's worth. One of my friends confided in me that she wants to be stuffed and put on display in a museum when she dies. She made me promise to call the taxidermist, when she expires. Personally I could care less what happens to me when I die, bury me, use my corpse for science or transplant donation, or even dress me up like i was alive and let two punk kids scam my beach house for the weekend (wasnt that a movie?). I dont care because Im dead.

I wouldnt care, I'm dead, my soul is before the gates of heaven, I would probably be more concerned with bribing St. Peter than worrying over what was happening to my body.

Cremated, ashes scattered on the rose bed and a huge party thrown to celebrate my life--and my passing onto a new phase of 'life'. If ppl cry, fine, but I want to hear laughter, teasing, drunkeness optional.

I've told my wife to just dig a hole and roll me in it. I'll write my own yulagy (sp?)

quote: I know EXACTLY what you mean there, but the "preacher" went the other way and (right in front of the coffin) told us all how my friend was burning away in hell. It then turned into a recruitment ceremony. Complete joke. Dragonmage- We had an Irish wake for my grandmother amongs us grandchildren and it was the best thing we ever could have done. Told stories, laughed, cried, and drank like fish. She would have loved it, and it helped us all out a lot As for the main question, take any usable (albiet very few) parts that I have available and cremate the rest. Do what you will with the ashes.
