Needless to say it didn't work. The lich followed him out to the inn where Minsc (& the rest of the party) was waiting. Using Azuredge, he killed it on the very first hit. backstabbing a beholder is such a crazy thing to do... they can easily sense your presence (even hiding in shadows). I enjoy killing them with cloud kill, dont let them see you though wile youre casting.

Gotta question on this quest of my own, that monster in the temple, how do you kill the darned thing. No matter how much damage I do, it lives. I gathered that damage isn't the way to kill it, but what is?

Have you used that little wand thingy? If you haven't, use it, and then just hack at him.
