Yup, thank the manufacturers for cheap keyboards! I had to buy one recently when my cat's claw went through the 'e' key cap and left a depression in it. Oh and the letters on most of the keys had worn off! LOL

Wow... my mac's keyboard still has the letters bright and clear. How old is that keyboard?

Question Mark

There`s nothing wrong with your keyboard. DONT BUY NEW ONE BEFORE TRYING THIS!!! Windows has a funktion that holds buttons down automaticly, if you press them rapidly. I have a finnish version of XP, but I hope this translates allright.

1. push RUN on the bottom left corner of your screen

2. select settings

3. select control panel

4. then press the button with invalid (wheel chair) symbol (direct translation from finnish would be "easy to use -actions")

5. push it again on the next page

Now you should be in a dialog where to turn that annoying feature off. This happenes to me constanly when playing Star Control Ur Quan Masters. Melee battle in there requires loads of rapid shooting.

Hope this helps.

I find the "Accessibility features" to be very annoying. I'm not in the target audience for it, so on my machines, I turn it off.

Few things can frustrate me more than trying to compose an email or a post, contemplating my response, when all of a sudden Windows pops up and asks me if I want to enable sticky keys, just because I've had a finger holding down a shift key for a while.

I was THINKING, @#$%^#$!^%!!! And thanks to Windows, I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN!!!

And to top it off, you can't disable it from the dialog box that pops up! See, the dialog box asks if you want to enable or disable, but only has an Okay or Cancel response. So you can enable it, but when you decide to disable it, you cancel your choice, and you're back to where you started. AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

There. I feel better now

It also helps not to let your cat stand on the shift key! Good advice I'd say!
Ah, well, that explains it then. It's not like you need a new keyboard though... you should have all the letter positions memorized by now!

I'll have to keep that in mind. I already bought the new keyboard. Replacing it fixed the problem and I didn't want to just "move" the problem from the main PC to my backup PC. For $10, it was worth the piece of mind not to have to worry about that. But I WILL try that first if it happens again.

Thanks for the info.

No worries, Cerek. I'd still disable the freakin' accessibility features unless you need 'em. Why wait?
