I must admit, being a WoW guy those dungeons sound pretty good. It'd be cool to split off into smaller groups in a dungeon, and have to meet up further in.

GW is good, I am playing it on the side somedays. The best thing is it's free so you never have to worry about using up your gametime. The PVE is actually refreshing since it instances you and if you're going solo you can just run around for hours in your own private space.

I seem to have picked up something called Urgoz's Shortbow - I am sure I just found it lying about somewhere on a mound of rotting foliage
Nice pickup mate!

Blast

Just tried Urgoz again - the mission starts bad when in the very first room we lose what looks to be a rather good leader and caller to a code 007 disconnect. OK - I think - time to restart. Group votes to forge on ahead though.

Pretty soon I am feeling very happy about this, because I realise that I am the one getting the favoured drops for a change. Good chests (+5 energy zodiac sword, and staff with a +20% fire wrap), jag a gold drop staff with a insightful 5 and 20% enchant and 10/9. Purples, blues, 2 stoneroot keys to pay back the ones I used - its all falling into place. On my last 2 runs, the guys with all the drops also got the super expensive Urgoz long bow drop, so I am pulling like crazy to get people through the mission. After a few stutters and an afk monk, we get to the room of endless wardens (the one with the stairs down about 2 rooms from the end). We are making very hard work of it (no ele in the group to pound on song wardens) but making slow but sure progress - when bang - I get my own code 007 and crash.

Man that sucked - I feel like I just lost the longbow. I had even sold off a cheap candycane to get rid of one of the team's DP - sigh!!!!!!

According to the guide (and confirmed with tthe first group I made it that far with!), when you get through that room with the gate controls, across the Flower Bridge and to that bridge where all those Wardens spawned on you..........If only ONE person steps foot on that bridge, the Wardens don't spawn. Have ONE person go across the bridge (kill the serpent if possible) and open the door. Leave part of the party behind on the high ground and the rest (heavy damage dealers who can self-heal) go in, find the Twisted Bark who's causing the energy degen and kill the bastard. After the Bark is dead, that same exclusive group goes to the next door, kills the Serpent to open that door and THEN the rest of the party can enter the room. (No Wardens will spawn if these instructions are followed--guaranteed. Well, unless Anet changes it before you read this )

This is confirmed by my own experience as well as the guide. Try it.

Hiya

Well your strategy is pretty close to right for the room you are talking about - but we are talking about different rooms

First in regard to the sequence you describe - you won't get trouobled by a seriously dangerous spawn if at least one person stays behind and doesn't set foot on the bridge till the rest kill guardian and bark and guardian.

Now after that room you get a room full of bushes with left and right guardians and 2 barks, and then you get to the room I was talking about which has a set of stairs leading down to a crowded room of wardens and others that you have to lure and kill, lure and kill, lure and kill over and over and over again. After that you get the pop-up room where if all party step inside the doors close and death, then of course there is Urgoz.

I am starting to know the path like the back of my hand - time to gove it another go.

That time was the same - the one that had the most luck in drops through the mission scored the longbow - she also scored the shortbow.

Mind you - she was dead and you could hear the panic in her voice when she was asking whether someone would res her . She had nothing to fear though, and she was soon up and about and picking up her prizes.

Yeah alot of people are paranoid about people picking up their drops. Good news is that the drop timer is set to 10 minutes now so if you want their drop you will have to wait 10 minutes before it is assigned to anyone else.

Its getting too predictable - those that score the gold drops through the mission get the bows in my experience. I had good drops when I got the Shortbow, and the only other time I was getting good drops the party was weak and I got code 007.

I forecast 4 people that time that I expected would get the bows between them - and I was right.

Damn! That means if we hadn't err=7, I would have gotten a bow . Well, doesn't that just stink!
