Not a myth. If you stand firm and refuse to give into your anger, Sarevok will be miffed, deem you not worthy to be a Bhaalspawn and attack you. This is the good path, and your reward is an additional point in WIS and CHA.

If you succumb to your anger, you have chosen the path of evil and gain an additional 2 points in STR.

When i played it i had sarevok on my side, only later i ditched him for the wicked paladin from earlier in the game when you can summon someone back from the dead/or if you never got them.
So maybe there is another way to get around sarevok- keep 'im!

My friend stated making a mod, three wierd gems, 0gp value, when yuo have them all together, and brign them to a witch in the Umar hills (not umar, shes justa potion witch* and she merges them, brigning a dream seen,

Anyway, I won't want to spoil the rest of his mod with out a

SPOILER TAG OHHH YEAH!!

The dream sequence will talk to Sarevok, and you get the Demon warath which transform into a regular fighter with regualr armour,and acool blade, but he cane turn intoa slayer like you. I doubt my friend will doa good job, but it would be awesome
