And even taking out the possible staging and scripting factor from reality shows, there's still not much reality in it; mostly because practically every single person will act differently with a camera nearby than they would without one. Whether they're trying to make themselves look better or look like a caricature, cameras will always have some sort of effect on their behaviour; even if it's only something minor as keeping a nose-picking addiction under control.

Yes exactly. Shows like Big Brother advertise as 'how do real people behave in situations like this' - well yes, it is showing how real people behave with a lot of cameras watching their every move, but it's hardly how they'd behave in real life if there were no cameras (or they didn't know the cameras were there). It's all acting, nothing 'real' about it.

To make a long story short, no, i don't watch it. In the beginning, when shows like Big Brother were fairly new, i watched every now and then, but it's exactly like Grojlach said, it's not real time TV, they are VERY aware of the camera. Imo, watching crap like that, is a big waste of time.

Ah yes, 'reality tv.' Just one of many reasons why I parted myself from television altogether.

I'll watch reality TV when it's real, but for now, I don't waste my time with it. I sit down and watch an episode with my mom if I'm bored, but other than that, I don't waste my time.

This seems to be the current "craze" in this country. You know: court shows with "real" cases, American Idol, etc. We have had: Joe Millionaire, Married by America, and now, Mr. Personality.

I heard that they are going to start a network that will be devoted to "reality TV." They think the market is out there.

What do you think about it? Do you watch it? Would you admit it if you did? What do you tink of the people thatp participate in them?
I think all these 'married' or shows where they hook up is just sick. You see either a guy or girl making out with all 10 of the players-- sick.

I only watch the Amazing Race (great show), the Mole was ok, and Big Brother is funny to watch sometimes. but the others suck.. Oh, Survivor is old.. same old games each year...

Never seen any of the other dating or hook-up type shows.. just promo's (which are bad enough)
