This seems to be the current "craze" in this country. You know: court shows with "real" cases, American Idol, etc. We have had: Joe Millionaire, Married by America, and now, Mr. Personality.

I heard that they are going to start a network that will be devoted to "reality TV." They think the market is out there.

What do you think about it? Do you watch it? Would you admit it if you did? What do you tink of the people thatp participate in them?

Well, for one, I'd wish they'd stop calling it Reality TV. I have yet to see any "Reality TV" show that is actually realistic. I've never watched the Osbournes, but maybe that would be one, but then that's it. The rest are just modified gameshows in my opinion.
Well, the network will probably take off, I'm sure. Will I watch it, nope. I've never had any desire to watch any of these shows, and I don't see myself wanting to see any in the future.
I thought I'd seen them get as stupid as possible, then Fox came out with "Married by America", seesh.

I hate Reality TV shows. I watched Joe Millionaire (But hey, that was brillant, admit it!)

But yeah I hate all the rest of them...Married by America seems like it should border line illegal some how..

I think I heard that in "Married By America" none of the couples actually ended up getting married.

All of the reality tv shows are stupid, but they seem to suck my parents into every single one of them. now my parents watch the on a regular basis

Why are so many people more interrested in what´s happening to Reality Show competitors than they are with their own life?

Beaumanoir 04-29-2003 02:17 PM

The only one I liked was the Truman Show.... Oh, wait a minute... Bugger..

NiceWorg 04-29-2003 03:07 PM

I agree with harleyquinn, in the end even Disney comics are more realistic.

I don´t like them at all, although they sometimes give you a laugh.. no, not intentionally. What else attitude can you have towards shows that smell so strongly manufactured. Shows where tv companies try to put two people together are the worst ones.

Yeah I agree. I think they must have dreamed up the label 'reality TV' because they thought people wouldn't be grabbed by 'gameshow'. One of the first after all was Survivor, which they call in the show itself a gameshow! It's certainly not reality. Stuff like the Osbournes and the Anna Nicole show are just babies in the reality TV world. Actually I read in a magazine that some of the incidents in the Osbournes (I've never watched it myself) were staged and scripted. Which takes the interest (and reality!) factor out a bit. If I want a sitcom, I'll watch one with actually likeable people :D

I am a bit ashamed to admit I did watch the Bachelor though. Surprise surprise the relationship hasn't lasted! :D Drew the line at Joe Millionaire though, just hearing the ad put me off 'for love or money' - well we can rule love out since all they did was go on a few 'fantasy dates' and bitched about all the other chicks trying to 'win' him. Plus his hair! Who could love that? :D

strange as it may seem that those shows actually manage to reach overhere. I think some people working in the tv station must have really like to watch it. though to me those shows are boring as hell.
