Draconis, first you have no need to be a rude troll.

Second, you did not round out your comparrison of Seattle and Vancouver. What do those statistical differences say - I am interested, seriously. My post dissecting the reason for the statistic was based on reason. You say you have facts. Cough 'em up.

Third, a design flaw products liability suit is won only when the product does something *other than* what was intended. Coca-cola is strictly liable for an exploding coke bottle, but not for someone who drinks coke all the time, becomes obese, and dies of obesity.

Fourth, regarding my "shallow end of the debate pool" argument (which is, I'll note, also where your lawn darts argument goes), you seem to be arguing against the availability of guns - period. But, in the previous post you said you owned them. What system would you think would work? Obviously you think they should be available. Obviously you think they serve some social purpose. So, why is comparing them to cars so far off the mark? Both are very useful but very dangerous and harmful.

Fifth, we agree on the trade show loophole.

Sixth, you certainly don't advocate making the manufacturer liable for every gun fatality. You may as well ban them. Under the law, there is almost no instance where you are held accountable for that which was not foreseeable. Let's say a thief steals one of those guns you own (assuming you are a responsible gun owner who it was okay to sell to in the first instance) and then kills someone with it. You are saying the manufacturer is liable? Why?

Off topic completely, but funny nonetheless!

"What is Lt Col Sebastian?"
"The rebels, errr, they're here sir..."
"Oh... do they want tea?"
"No... I think they're after something more than that sir. They've brought a flag!"

So when is someone going to sue an auto manufacturer for designing products that can cause grievous harm or death to an innocent person through intentional or accidental usage? And what about manufacturers of airplanes? And kitchen knives? And baseball bats? And rope? And hammers? And so on and so forth until you cover every single item which could conveivably be used as a weapon to cause grievous harm or death to an innocent person through intentional or accidental usage?

Guns get singled out because they are too easy to obtain and too easy to misuse.

Before I forget...those naughty martial arts schools should turn in all their staves, katanas, kusari-gamas, and all sorts of what-nots before someone gets hurt.

One final question, DraconisRex...what do you think of the news story that Timber Loftis originally posted? I figure that since I helped bump the thread off-topic that the least I can do is try to bring it back into focus.
