Since we are into Britishisms, I believe "fag" is also a term used in Public Schools to denote a lower form boy who does servant work for an upper form boy. Corrections from Britishers welcomed.

Thanks, Barry. Yes. I think you are right, as the unsupervised control of young boys by older ones who are after all, hormonally assaulted, strikes me as unwise, at best. Have they ever made places like Eton and Harrow coeducational?

LOL that's a pretty funny rant and you know I've been thinking about that stuff recently. My last gf was into all that romantic, chivalry stuff and while I bought her flowers and opened doors for her etc. I tried but in the end it wasn't good enough, she even admitted when I asked her that she'd like me to be more romantic. I continually had to face the fact that I just wasn't into that "sissy" stuff as that guy put it. Is this really a bad thing? Should we really try and pretend that we're different people to please our women? It's ok to make an effort but we shouldn't have to change who we are.
Also, I don't see what gaunty's post has to do with any of this? [ 02-02-2003, 10:44 AM: Message edited by: Vaskez ]

Actually, while I think of it, another good book on public school life is Stephen Fry's "The Liar". But thats pretty explicit, to the point of being quite disturbing in places. I once asked a guy from Charterhouse school whether anything from the book was actually true to life, he told me that it was: "more of a Winchester thing.", which was so typical as a response that I couldn't help laughing...
