5 HOURS ?? 5 *minutes* is too long for a baby to be left in that sort of heat.
I don`t think I need say any more.

"Parents" (and I use that term loosely) like this are so self-absorbed that they cannot spare a thought for their children. Even leaving your child in an air-conditioned car to run into the 7-11 for 2 minutes in a crime which can result in the State terminating your parental rights.
I am in favor of mandatory sterilization for people who do this. That may seem harsh, but so is leaving a child in a 150F - 180F (65C - 85C) car for any length of time.
What is really sad is that no one seems to learn. Every summer in the Dallas area around a dozen children will die from being left in hot cars, despite a media blitz warning of the dangers.

I think Azred hit the nail on the head....the parents were just too "self-absorbed" with thier OWN schedules. With 5 children, it can be assumed that the oldest is at least 7-10 yrs old. Yes, that IS old enough for them to "help bring the baby in", but nowhere near old enough to bear the responsibility for seeing that it's actually done. My oldest isn't even 6 yet, and he is always wanting to carrying his baby brother to and from the car. We let him help, but either I or my wife walk right with him in case his arms get tired.

HOW COULD A PARENT [NOT NOTICE THE BABY WAS MISSING????? OK, granted the child was almost 2 yrs old, so he/she is past the "bottle" stage...and may even be out of diapers. But it's a garaunteed fact the kid is going to be hungry SOON after getting home from church.

With a 4yr old and a 5 1/2yr old running around the house while we take care of the baby, there HAS been a time or two when my wife and I have "lost track" of one of the older boys for a few minutes. But it never took us long to realize that we "hadn't seen him run through here" in the last few minutes....that's when we would start your basic "room-to-room" search. Most of the time, they have either sat down to color or deciced to play with a "quiet" toy (and ANY parent worth their salt can tell you that the time to worry about what your child is doing is when you CAN'T hear him or her - that's when they're into something they shouldn't be).

While I disagree with /)eathkiller's "insistence" that it was deliberate, I DO agree that it is incredibly negligent and completely inexcusable.

Sickening. Anyone who chooses to have five children should be a couple who really loves children, and will take care of them properly. So many couples just pump out kids out of "mistake" again and again. These couples don't really "want" five or more kids, it just "happens." Hence, I figure this is one of those couples, and they just didn't give much of a shit, and were lazy and decided to let their other kids take care of the responsibility while they at pork rinds and watched TV, or something similar thereto.

It's quite amazing how many people are ready to believe the worst of people (ie it must have been intentional).

No, this isn't meant to be a commentary or opinion on this case - I have no way of knowing if it was intentional or not. What I do know is that in OZ we have just caught a killer of a British tourist. For the last 6 months, press both in OZ and UK have cast more than enough slurs on the integrity of the girlfriend who escaped the attack. She must know more - she's not telling the truth - maybe she did it. This week, the miniscule DNA evidence, an arrest for an unrelated crime, the puzzle pieces now uncovered - total vindication of her story. The many that were prepared to suspect the worst now look pretty foolish (me amongst them).

Yes Davros, how many news stories about this girls possible guilt were run? how many news paper stories and editorials.....now compare that to how many will be written proclaiming her innocence.

I personally don't know how you could forget a baby, I would never have been able to forget mine.....just don't understnad.

I still favor the idea of having to pass certain requirements b4 being able to procreate. Do the world and society a favor - mass enforced non-reproductivity.
In one sense it is a disgrace that you have to have a license to own a dog, but any idiots like the aforementioned couple can be parents.

Still, however much I think socially approved/licensed reproduction might benefit society, I would never vote for it - it'd be one step on a very slippery slope of losing *alot* of basic human rights, I fear. Give governments an inch, and they take a mile, no matter where you live
