You have my condolences also Sio. He will always be alive in the time you spent together, in your memories, and in your heart. You will be in my prayers.

Dear Sio,

Mere words cannot express proper condolences for your loss. I understand what it is like to lose a loved one. Your grandfather sounded like a great person. Take comfort in that you were able to know him, at least for a little while. No one can take that away from you. He will always be with you, as long as you keep his memory alive.

May I offer, as a comfort to you and as a tribute to your grandfather, the immortal words of the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, in his classic poem of eternal life, "Crossing the Bar:"

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

In deepest sympathy,

-Sazerac

you have my deepest condolences and sympathy, I know how you feel, My grandpa is 85, and his health is failing, unfortunately I'm about 4000 miles away and wouldn't likely be able to make it back if he did die anytime soon..., so I'm glad you at least got to see him before he was gone.

I am sorry you lost your grandfather, Sio.
Most of the pain will pass with time. Your grandfather was lucky to have family that loved him so much. He sounds like a wonderful man.

Many of us on the board have also been through similar losses. You are not alone. There are people who can relate and do understand how hard this is.

Know that if you are thinking about him, he will know. You will feel him in your heart, and he will always be there.
