I know, that's basically what I was getting at with my comparison to Coulter (not sure if you're familiar with her, though).
Note that my comments mostly focus on his political mindset and his columns, though; I've heard good things about his film-making long before today's tragic events. Quite controversial just the same, but in the good sense of the word - cinematically challenging and trying to tackle taboos in his own special way. I haven't seen any yet, but I'll definitely watch one if the opportunity arises.

That wasn't the one I had in mind, but I'll try to watch it with an open mind. I still strongly disagree with the entire "omg! evil left wing conspiracy" thing he had going on surrounding Fortuyn's death, though.

But does this issue (whether he was rude or a jerk or both) not really highlight the fact that Islam is going to be a major problem for all of the western world? Sort of like a modern day middle ages in reverse...the Anti-Crusades.

If this turns out to be an assassination that was approved of upfront by a clear majority of the world's islam population, then yes - but this is the work of a lone nut, similar to idiots in the US who bomb and murder abortion doctors.
Doesn't mean that some factions within the muslim community couldn't pose a potential risk, though, but I still disagree with the notion that the muslim community in its entirety should be blamed for it.

Well, yes...imo it is. Some people are willing to go into a dialogue, but you definitely have to watch your back, because obviously others are more than willing to put a knife or a bullet in it. On the other hand, there's nothing that can be done about it, because they are just as much a Dutch citizen as i am. The gap is widening though.
