Great job Dundee! I have yet to play online...for fear of 56k dropping me. I do like the 4v4 harder (even insane sometimes) skirmishes though. I'm not saying I often win...I just like it lol.
TL, not sure how far you are along in DoW, but this might help in general: http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=139 It's 10 or so months of Relic's strategy forum weeded out for the most relevent and effective guides, further weeded out for version 1.3. This relates to SM in particular: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=49469 It covers just about everything, from the "Are you sure you even have THIS game if you don't know this?" to "Wow, I was totally overlooking that and I've had the game for 6 months." For SM I try to end up with 9 Marine squads, (1 of each H Bolter, Plasma, Rocket, almost always extra rocket) 2 scouts /w plasma if against SM or Chaos, sniper rifles if againt Eldar or Ork,of course kill one off or replace if you really need to build up some LP's with servitor laspreds (always 1 twin linked, leave the bolters on half) + a dread constantly in the orbital relay (1 laspred and a dread changed for the holy Land Raider if you've got a relic) This build gives awesome ranged power, relatively weak melee but usually enough force to punish anything that stays near you that long. It's a tough cookie that rarely breaks, especially with apothecaries and librarian/FC, but will break to lots of artillery if combined with enough other troops. Once broken, you'd never get enough time to rebuild it, so you'll need to replenish the fallen with Termies (built and waiting to come out). I build with this because micro isn't my forte. Assault Space Marines, while cool as all hell, I just can't use effectively as they should be used with adequate micro. And Dundee - of course there are more creative builds for Eldar than a balanced guardians/Warp Spider/Dread Reaper infantry, and fully Brightlanced-out vehicle range, that one's simple and effective enough as a start. Having your brightlances hotkeyed, and annihilating each vehicle as you meet them will totally take vehicles out of the equation for your enemy in a matter of seconds Since I'm micro poor, I'm absolutely horrid with Orks. It's a shame too, because they've got great voice acting hehe. If you play Chaos btw, use lots of Defilers. They won't ever be that imbalanced again. They went from rarely used to unholy terrors, making predators under-used. Edit: In the name of the Emperor, don't try anything I say in an online game, especially 1v1 or 2v2. Those rarely last to Tier 3 from what I've read. [ 06-18-2005, 05:36 AM: Message edited by: Lucern ] |
