The demise of Black Isle has even worse ramifications. According to a recent interview with one of the ex-Black Isle folks, Interplay appears to now be focusing to a large degree on CONSOLE games and not PC games.
And to make matters worse, the now aborted Jefferson project was the long awaited BG3!!!! ![]()

"The story was not a continuation of the Bhallspawn saga. It was an original story, believed to be set in the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms, sharing the Baldurs Gate name in title only, not plot or story elements.
IPLY/BIS still retain the rights to BG titles on console and IWD on PC." The FACT is that although BG3 was NOT a continuation of the Bhaal Spawn series, a BG3 game WAS being developed UNDER THE BG PC LICENSE, that is BEFORE Iplay opted to NOT renew the PC license! Sorry Dundee, but there WAS a BG3 in the works (and this has been confirmed by numerous threads on the Iplay boards). In fact, it's name was BG3: The Dark Hound and Josh Sawyer was it's primary architect! The simple fact that it was NOT a continuation of the Bhaal Spawn series does not change the facts.

But the fact that they do USE the title "Baldur's Gate" in the game while it has virtually (and probably even absolutely) nothing to do with THAT game series says a lot about how much focus is on money in the gaming industry. *sigh* I bet they just called it BG to get higher sale figures.

Does anyone know if you can still purchase their games or will that stop once the company shuts down its site.

It may be a "Baldur's Gate" game, but it is NOT a sequel, and hence not a "3". Dark Alliance is not considered part of the Trilogy (or Dualogy if you prefer), but bears the name "Baldur's Gate" too.
To call such a game, "Baldur's Gate 3" is misleading and gives false hope to fans of the original one. |

Dundee,
It may be misleading but the fact was that there WAS a BG3 PC game in the works. I TOTALLY agree that it was not a sequel to BG2 and NOT a continuation of the Bhaalspawn saga. Given that Josh Sawyer was in charge of the BG3 project, I wish the project had been finished and hope that it still might be. It's probably a long shot, but there is a lot of talk on a myriad of websites about the possibility that one of the other software houses (Obsidian, Troika, Silver Styles(?) etc) trying to make a deal with Iplay for the rights and perhaps even the code and PC engine for FO3, BG3 and perhaps even TORN. Personally, I would LOVE to see the completed versions of those games. I wish that Obsidian had better financial backing as they would be a GREAT choice to pick up the pieces of BG3. I guess we will have to wait and see.
