"King Quest 8: The Mask of Eternity" I think was pretty good. As well as M&M 7 with the dragon.

I would say Starcraft: Brood War or any of the Fallout games. Although technically not a video, the opening/launcing scene of Homeworld was impressive too.

It's an old one, but the opening movie to Independence War (or, if you prefer, I-War) was quite superb. It was, literally, a small movie, with characters, scenes, an emergent story, some rather neat Babylon 5-esque space combat, and a cool ending. It meshed with the game itself very, very well.

It's the only intro movie I've ever bothered to watch independently of playing the game, if that makes any sense.

Either that, or Wing Commander III. Because WC3 is pretty much a space flight combat movie with action sequences, the whole 'movie' feel is very much part of the experience. I miss WC3. It's a DOS-based game that refuses to work with simulated Windows DOS modes. I remember I had to write my own Autoexec.bat and Config.sys to run a kind of 'fake' DOS on Windows 3.1..

Don't look at me like that! It worked...

You've probably never seen it, but the opening FMV from Pro Evolution Soccer 2.

Other than that, any FF FMV. They're all good!

Totally classic, man.

As for me, I'll say Tales of Destiny. Beautifully done anime, I tell you. Guilty Gear X2 is up there, as well, especially because the music that plays during it is kick-ass.

The Brood War Movie.

ADD] My bad, this is actually the trailer. Not the introduction.

IMO the best opening movies and FMV cutscenes came from Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom. In fact, the first 30 minutes of the game is part of the intro.
