I really like Final Fantasy 8's opening animation, with the feathers and such... very artistic.
edit- I like all the CG animation in this installemnt of the series as well.

Brood War.

The emotions it incited was masterfully done.

Recently the opening movie to freelancer seemed really out of the ordinary.

The opening movie of Red Alert 2. I really love watching the scene of Soviets troops invading US. somehow it gives me satisfaction inside. ;)

The opening movie of Diablo 2 LOD, I love it when Baal say " Enough!" and the sorrounding mountain vibrate. I also like the scene where Baal uses his power to squash the poor man.

The intro from Zero-Wing. If you don't know this game you'll probably DO know the intro ;)

Warcraft 3 has an interesting opening. I mean, I despise the game, but the intro is cool.

Lunar 1 & 2.

Xenogears.

Ive seen too many cool game openings to pick one favorite but a few that come to mind that I really liked were the PS2 rpg Shadowhearts, Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction and American Mcgees Alice.

I know the animation wasnt great for this one but FFIV (or ffII in us)
