The inventor of jet can make poison cures with the radscorpion tales when you get him to join you. You have to do some missions in new reno to get him and have high charisma i think

That's strange about all these "reported" bugs in FO2. The ONLY problem I ever had was the occassional crash to desktop when firing at a targetted location. Other than that, I never encountered the force field bug or any other busted dialgoue strings.
And Fallout Tactics does NOT suck. Its just a different type of game that the normal post-apocalypse CRPG ... its more of a strategy / tactical combat game. Its more like the Jagged Alliance games than a crpg.

It's inconsistent with the Fallout time line. Intelligent deathclaws at that point ? Repetitive as hell. Really bad looting system. Guys falling on top of eachoter and you are not able to loot all of them. Gets really annoying when you have to play a mission again because you can't find a key due to this. The special random encounters are dumb. Just comic relief for the most part and nothing to get. At least the Fallout RPG RE's had something to find or get in them. Real time combat was booring. Just set your settings and hope for the best. In TB combat, your enemies were on overwatch all the time. Meaning that if you come from some sort of cover, they shot you without it being their turn. But this was only the case for your enemies. The player didn't have this choice. Only was it given to the player to get the first shot in. Makes looking for cover a bit unnecesary. Not a lot of replay value. Play it once and you've basically seen and done it all. The thing that ticked me off mostly about his post was that he said that Fallout tactics was Fallout 3 when it isn't. Even IPLY says it isn't. I remember suffering from the major 'car' bug when playing Fallout 2. When I downloaded the patch I was informed that it doesn't cover any previous saved games, so I had to delete my previous saves and start all over again. Perhaps you guys are suffering from the bugs because you continued to use your previous saves.
And Fallout 2 is one of the greatest RPG's ever. Better than the BG2 series. Don't let those bugs stop you. Fallout Tactics is NOT Fallout 3, its merely a turn-based strategy spin-off. But it was a good game as well. |

JR,
As far as FO:T NOT being Fallout 3, I TOTALLY agree! You're right that BIS has confirmed that time and time again. That's why I compared it to Jagged Alliance which it DOES resemble. I do agree that the replay value on Fallout:Tactics is limited though.

Rimjaw, you can find saved game converters that will let pre-patch save games be used with the patched Fallout. Just do a search for Fallout 2.

I have just recently aquired Fallout 2 and i have to say it is extremley enjoyable. I find it much more fun than BG because of the level up system. One of the bad things abpout BG is that you hardly ever level up i really think it drags it back because i always want soemthing to look forward to within reasonable reach. Fallout however is very fun and i love all the out and out no tactics fighting, which BG lacks.
