Mine absorbs 87-90 health for 8 feet. I rarely use it, just doesn't seem fair...

But there are times when you are having a BIG fight with a good sized group, and its nice to be able to kill 'em all with a couple blows, and end up healthier than when I started.

I assume that would only absorb health from enemies? So you would hit one enemy, and every other within 8 feet would have that much health drained from him? That's powerful!

And yes, my staff is more a status symbol than anything else...just don't feel the part without a nice one to carry around. My blunt weapon skill is about 5 or 10 so it will be a little while before it's doing any killing!

heh, thats a pretty good idea... draining all their health in so few hits... hmmmnn. i'm reloading anyway, i think i'll make a mage/assasin/theif and try that one out

mages may seem cool, but if there was a multi player game you wouldnt see my theif/assasin until you were already too dead to cast a spell...

DRAIN health just sucks it out.

ABSORB health sucks it out, transfers it to you. The in-game description makes it sound like health points gained this way go away after a while. They don't, at least not if your opponent dies.

I occasionally like to collect a swarm of racers and rats, then stand there and let them have at me: great way to train your armor and block abilities. When my health bar gets scary low, I just wave my 'staff o' doom' and watch 'em die: have killed 3 racers and 2 rats with a single blow.

In that regard, it would have been much better if it had more range, fewer point of damage.

That almost feels like cheating! Muahaha, I can see it now. My vampiric staff of wasting or something similar.

Yes, those spell descriptions are a bit funny sometimes. I think the description for drain magicka implies that once the spell finishes then their magicka level returns to what it was before the spell was cast. Is this true? I always assumed that it was reduced by the spell and stayed there...
