i don't like either . But i do play both they ok. Got into the whole modding d2 now bored though with it. I cannot wait for neverwinters night and dunegon siege hehe. Hope i will like those more. Problem with bg2 is mutiplayer sux and not much replay value. Diablo's problem is cheats and boring spells and combat.

I've played D1,D2,BG1,BG2 -->
D1 is nice: nice story, easy gameplay, random items and dungeons, sound an graphics made a great atmosphere.
D2: more story (but boring), fine-tuned gameplay (but not effective), more items, more dungeons but UGLY monsters and graphics in general. It lost all of the dark flair D1 had.
BG1: Perfect!!! Great story, great RPG, nice handling with very effective gameplay, party instead of solo.
BG2: Even better!!! Great story continues, even better handling (PAUSE in inventory screen e.g.), too few NPCs, great items, great challenging fights.

BG series is more tactic. You'll face a big fight more often that requires preparations and thinking, whereas Diablo is a fun game where a bigger fight means: swallow more potions and more left-clicking.
I think the mass-fights of ToB were some kind of tributer to the Diablo players but it still was a great BG game

Hello,

I played Diablo and Diablo II, I like both of them. Started a few days ago with Baldur's Gate II. The game seems to have a good story but I find the gameplay a bit slow, lots of dialogues and so... perhaps I am still used of playing Diablo II.

What I do like in BGII is the more tactical gameplay with the party, reminds me of Myth II. Myth is way better for tactical battles.

Now I am still in chapter II, hope to advance soon.

Never played Diablo and I don't think I ever play anything else since I bought BG1 & BG2. Before I started, I was playing in the middle saga of MechWarrior 4: Black Knight. Don't know when I'll finish that game.

Simply, BG rocks ... until NWN. I can wait. There are way too many things to do in BG. It was a well spent $19.99 per game.

BGII takes D2 and... well yeah. GO BGII!!!!

Only flaw in BG II is that elven mages look like old ladies

I have longed played Diablo and Diablo2 and also own the Lord of Destruction expansion for D2 and the Hellfire expansion for Diablo. The only BG game I've played is BG2.

In my opinion, Diablo2 is a complete piece of crap that nowhere came near to being a good sequel to Diablo. It is very unbalanced and very easy. I would have to say BG2 is better than D2, even though items and all that are always in the same places. But overall, I believe Diablo is the best, especially with Hellfire. And then the mods for Diablo were absolutely great, at least some of them. Diablo will probably remain one of my favorite computer games ever, along with Heretic.

There's no Comparison. One is Apples, one is Oranges.

Baldur's Gate series is heavy on story and quests and encounters, and a little light on the equipment and personal abilities. The primary goal is to marvel at the wonderful world you are in and how you can affect it in so many ways, with a secondary goal of developing your charactar.

Diablo is light on the story and quests, and very heavy on the personal abilities and equipment. The primary goal is to build "The perfect Charactar" , with the best equipment and selecton of skills you can get. Your effect on the Diablo world is minimal to none at best, since a reloaded game starts off with all monsters respawned (though you can't do those quests twice)

Basically , in Diablo , the world is just a place to hold all the monsters you're going to slaughter. In Baldur's Gate, the World is an interesting entity in and of itself.

I like them both, but they cannot be compared. They're not the same thing. You're not playing the same game.

Like I said, sometimes you're in the mood for some KFC, sometimes you're in the mood for a 3-course meal.
