You can make only one every 24 hours, and you have to sleep only a couple minutes. The type changes each time, but i've forgotten the sequence; i'm as sure they don't reflect your Alchemy skill. That counts for mixing potions and learning spells, though.

The first potion is always the same ( Lt Heal ). After that it's random, I believe. I already had Magic Nectar, Flash Powder or Guardian Angel as a second. I also never had a highlevel potion like Fire Bomb or Canned Elemental, even after I maxed out alchemy.

But I had enough Magic Nectar later in the game so I didn't rest very often, so may be I only had bad luck.
