Hi Wiz 8 people.
I’ve an itching to have another run at this classic game. Usually I’ve gone for more tank-oriented parties. This time I am going to have a mage, priest, Alchemist and Psionic. A rogue or fighter up front and ninja. What are the best races for these classes? I think I’m going to make the ninja a faerie as I’ve never played one before.
Cheers

Wait a day and play through deathstarkers mod, you won't regret it.

I won't be able to start for a while anyway. Not got any mods, want to compleate the original once more before I get some mods.

I have tried many races that work. I especially like:

elf for mage
dwarf for priest
gnome for alchemist
human for psionic

I don't recommend a Dracon or Lizardman for magic, but they can be developed, takes longer.

Felpur makes a good mage just as Rawulf a good priest. Alchemists can be almost anything, but you want high intelligence. They will be used for offense mainly (except for some healing and chameleon).

Psionics get quite good around lev 12, not so impressive earlier. Others may have better results with them.

I really don't like a party of more then 3. No, I'm not a power gamer, I usually play on easy or normal but the faster lelveling is well worth it.

I've never played a gnome, so that could be interesting.
Is there much difference between easy and normal? Are there more nasties to fight or do you get more XP?

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 03-10-2006 04:57 AM

There isa big difference between easy and normal. I started my present game on normal but I quickly switched it to easy. I think the exp. is the same or it may be less at more difficult levels.

Ziggurat 03-10-2006 06:11 PM

I've only tried easy for parts of a few games, mainly at the beginning up to Arnika if the party was weak. Haven't tried the difficult setting. From what others have said, the primary difference is how much damage and penetration you do. The enemy party size and experience remain the same.

I've started, it's good to be playing this great game again.
Its the first time I have an alchemist in my party, how often will he make potions while we camp? and will they all be the same?

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 03-13-2006 04:35 PM

I can't remember about the potions exactly. I'm sure the alchamy skill increases both type and frequency of potions.
