If it is one hit, one kill you can HiS again with out ever appearing. The bad guys don't turn hostile so you can keep taking them out one at a time.

Very nice. At what level do you get x7 damage? I've rolled up an assassin for my next run through. I plan to take him high enough to get the "Use Any Item" and "Assassination", then dual over to a sorcerer.

What level should I go to as assassin?

You cannot dual to a Sorcerer, tempting as it may be. You can dual to a Mage though.

Use any item is one of the special abilities you gain when you get to high levels in throne of bhaal. It is permanent once gained.

So a question about taking advantage of this backstab thing - I've heard that it only works with theives' weapons - so if i take an assassin (which i've never played) to a point where he gets about x6 (or whatever) dual it to a fighter, and max out both the weapon and single weapon fighting (which at two stars lowers the critical strike to 19-20), there is potential to seriously do some major damage. Whats that on the order of? Figure around 30-40 (+/-, depending on stats and gear) on the role x6 for the backstab? Crap man, thats pretty insane

it seems like an interesting way to develop a character

What about a kensai dualed to a thief (not assassin)? Can you use the kai (max damage) with the backstab?

exxxceellant... (stated like Mr. Burns, with fingers tapping one another) maybe i'll try this assassin thing out...

Yes you can... Its quite nice. If you take the character into ToB, you can remove his kensai restrictions with the Use Any Item abililty, and then with some of the other HLAs, you become a total wrecking machine.
