The second quote sounds to me like he has 8 PCs. When you refer to a level is that the characters actual level or a casting level or some combination of things?

Confused

The first batch of games I playing did not involve class change at all. I didn't and still don't like it. I do very little of it. My advice would be to play a few times (you don't have to finish, I hardly ever do) and you'll get a feel for what people are talking about.
And don't worry, you won't see any of this "check the post from 2 weeks ago" crap that you'll see on other sites. You won't find a better, more helpful group of people. Wizards & Warriors was very much like this for those of you who were regulars and those who weren't. Thanks, everybody!!

I think it refers to Pc level unless the specific context says for example: people usually would use sword skill is that and that number instead of sword level

Thanks Elmwood, I've played Wizardry since Proving Grounds. I am just trying to get a handle on way people here format their information so I can understand more easily what it is that they are saying. I'm really enjoying Wiz8 just started playing a couple of weeks ago but I've learned a lot already. There seems to be a tremendous amount of very good advise and information on this board and it's been very helpful so far. I'm trying to stay away from any kind of walk-throughs or spoiler boards but I really appreciate all of the little tid-bits and suggestions (caused me to re-think my starting party). I've already restarted once.

Thanks again,

Webbing

My post is about one solo character, who has been those classes at those character levels. I apologise for any confusion.

[/QUOTE]I find it interesting that we still see new players on the board regularly. Where are you, and you other, new posties finding this game?

And believe me, I've started this game many times and only finished twice!

I didn't want to start another thread, and since it's about changing classes, here's an update on my many-classed Human: Lee has Ascended, though i also am continuing on with a save just before Ascending to play with extended ridiculous development. Anyway, she finished as a Fighter, which she changed to at L20, so she could berserk. I was gonna stay Ranger a little longer, but i found a Rainbow Shield, the first time i've ever heard of such, in the chest in the CM temple on AP. It's AC+4, Shield +20, and +15 vs all 6 Realms. Very nice, esp combined with Golden Breastplate, Ebony legs, and Nebdar. I'm usually always dual-wielding, esp in solo's, to get as many hits as possible, but i got a Light this time, so i still got up to 9 swings (around 100 damage per) anyway. I locked her into Melee, so the shield wouldn't go away when no target was in Short range, and i didn't even need to use Soul/Element shield if my Magic Screen was up.
Death Cloud, even as low as PL4, and Quicksand at PL7 really kept on killing at least one in four of the mobs that were 'even match' or easier, so there was no need to continue pushing magic skills. The extended development version of this char is now L34, just maxed Vit with only 5 more levels for Pi, and 7 more for Speed. Even though it's 20 million XP per level, i'm averaging 5 million per fight, and with X-ray on i can always zip right up to the next one.

I purchased the game about a month ago from the local "Best Buy" for $19.99. I've played all of the Wizardry games, and finished most of them. I still fire up the Apple II+ once in a while to play the first 3 over again.

I'm trying to stick away from spoilers, but have been enjoying the discussion on party developement.

Thanks,

Daven

Local EB. Had him bring in the last copy he coupl find in the Canadian system. A steal at $29.99! Always meant to play this game, but I was put off the Wizardry series a bit by Wizardry Gold, which I found super-hard.

I find this one hard too, but I enjoy it regardless.

Welcome Webbing. Many of the discussions on this topic need some clarification. Some of us are playing the game with reduced parties (i.e. less than six) For example, my current party is one of three bishops and a Bard. But the Bishops spent the first several levels as rogues to improve certain traits like stealth and shield. After that, they changed to Bishops and concentrated on their spellcasting abilities. Many of us are finishing the game at level 20 or less and have particular spells, and/or weapons that we wish to use. My best advice is to play the game through and see what characters/races/traits appeal to you and then decide whether changing classes is right for you.
