I've been collecting some old crap parts just for this problem lately.

All I need now is a floppy and a CD-rom and I will be installing MS-DOS 6.22 on my P166 "classic gaming box"

OT: It doesn't really seem that long ago that I drooled over my friends P166...a kick-ass, high-end gamers dream machine...complete with 64 megs of ram and an 8 meg vid card...w00t!

Hey Strider, nice purchase. Seems like you have lots of time now that exams are done, huh?
I got myself the old D&D Gold Box Games about a month ago. Most of em only run under MS-DOS 6.22 cos I can't manage to get enough memory under 1MB free to run em in Win98 DOS. But I'm fully involved in Wiz8 right now anyway. So the playing the Box is postponed till whoknowswhen.
See ya in the HoM.

If you find the old games too slow for your system, look for a utility named moslo. There is a freeware version and then a more advanced one that is $20. It made it possible for me to play the origional XComm on my 1.8 gig machine.

Chimera, did you spring for the $20 version? I can't get X-Com to run comfortably on my 800 mhz P3 using the freeware...

I tried to use this to play Xcomm, but it had no effect on my 350MHz AMD processor. I wonder if moslo version that works with AMD chips?

Jon Small"berries?"

Yes, I had to get the $20 version. I then made a desktop link from ufo.bat and edited it to:

moslo /30 /m2 ufo.bat

This runs quite well. Note the "/m2" this works much better for the game than the default. Also, you need the full version for the .bat file because UFO actually switches between two differnt engines, one for the "world/base" interface and one for the "combat" interface.

Its worth it to keep UFO alive... (Heck, I paid a lot more than that for that pile of it, Pool of Radiance.)

Strider,

I got an email almost immediatly from the company confirming the purchase and just got an email from fedex saying that the cd would be delivered today. You might want to check with the company if you haven't heard anything by now.
