Damn, you were lucky. I remember walking outside of town for the first time after spending the big bucks and outfitting almost 3 guys in cutting edge leather armor. Step outside the city gates thinking I'm tough stuff now, and within 10 seconds I got jumped by the hogar. I think I killed him him without losing anyone, but I turned strait around and made a run back into the city and hid in a building for a few days..

I, too have met plenty of Hogars. I was climbing down the Rattkin tree and landed on top of a Battering Hogar. (450 hp) I landed right on his head, but that didn't stop him from hitting. I REALLY wish I had landed on his back with him facing away from me. That would have made a great Dominus Digest.
As for "Saffy", I met 3 of them up in the NorthWest wilderness and another 3 inside the Umpani camp. I was able to make them insane, and I was hoping that I could get one of them to swallow another one, but no luck so far. The first group I was so busy fighting a rogue leader that I offed them before they could swallow anything and inside the camp I had tons of privates and sargents "helping" me. The funniest part was to watch privates fleeing for their lives. It was the funniest when we finished killing all three swallowers and two more privates broke and ran after all the enemies were dead. quote: When I first met up with the Swallower in the demo, I panicked! Here was this HUGE monster and then suddenly *GULP* one of my guys is MISSING! I always felt it would make for a nice attack if they could fight their way out from the inside, but I could never do anything about it. Is there a spell that you can use in that situation to free up your character? Or is that just one of the devious qualities of the Swallower? Gulp! Dan |

Beware of those Battering Hogars. In spite of their lower hit points, they are higher level than regular hogars and hit really hard. I fought one once and killed it, at the cost of one party member. I reloaded and tried again. This time my ranger instant killed it on his second shot. Whew...
