Just out of curiosity, since the game didn't have a key code or registration number, and there was no registration card, why in the name of all that's holy would someone need to crack it? [img]graemlins/1ponder.gif[/img]

i don't see the thread here anymore, so i think ziroc mighta dumped it. the guy who was asking about the patch yesterday was the culprit. now that i think of it, he had the word "crack" in his post title.

anyway, moni and i tried to help him by pointing to the patch download site. LOL. neither of us knew what he meant by "cracked version". i even asked him what that was, but he was onto greener pastures by that point. since it was past my bedtime ::rolls her eyes:: i left, too.

now that i think of it, maybe moni and i could be the frontline "blonde brigade". we could forge in and ruthlessly confuse the "kewl d00ds" till they leave in frustration. lol!

ah well. methinks they would be more terrified to have an enraged Sazerac and Ziroc after them anyway. your blows would certainly stun them much quicker than our daze-n-glaze technique.

Yes, I agree with all of you here. It's also not fair to those of us who use our hard earned money to buy the game, for those people who think nothing of getting a copy illegally. So glad we will not support that kind of behavior here. Saz, that's a great idea. What a wonderful Christmas gift that would be for someone.

If that's the one you meant, then yes, I thought he was asking for the patch file as well, and didn't think any more about it. Again, since the game has no registration code, I don't see why someone was looking for a crack.

I must admit I missed the "cracked" reference...I'm that honest, that I really do not expect dishonesty in others, and so it tends to be a blind spot unless it's blatantly in front of me.

Well I have to be honest and admit I know what *cracked* means but I thought the poster was a kid who didn't know how to use the patch with the .exe file and thought perhaps, the one that Davros posted would work for them.

I was going to say something to them about using the term *cracked* for a file that should be usable for anyone who has bought the game.
I had no idea that with such a recent release, people would already be into pirating it.

My apologies to the Curries for trying to even help someone who would be using a pirated version of the game!

I posted what???? - oh, advice and a link to the first official patch - whew, for a minute I was thinking I was up for aiding and abetting - wipes brow!! Saw an extended post over on the VNBoard (yeh, I've got too much spare time seeing as I don't have the game to play) of someone who reckoned he had a cracked CD less version supplied for a review. He got the instant cold shoulder and accusations of warez, despite his protestations of innocence. The latest official patch (the one that fixes the mook fadeaway and the Ascension Peak area), when downloaded, re-writes the main .exe file - this meant that the game was once again demanding to see CD1 in the ROM drive.

So, then do we use the patch you posted or the version 001b that has the exe file?
