Admittedly for me now there is a certain amount of regression that is required to read and enjoy Dragonlance without being critical, but having said that I'll never impose my values of what I'm reading on to others, because for someone somewhere, the stories have that initial magic that our first fantasy tale has. Yeah, I don't think it's about opening ones mind really. Some books feel cliche, some movies feel the same. The Chronicles series actually was my first DL story and I immediately felt it. Unless a persons reading experience is extremely limited then I think they will notice it. If they don't notice it, great. I won't try force it down their throat. You yourself talk of regressing in order to enjoy, but in admitting so have you robbed another of the "magic"? Of course not, you've just spoken your truth.
