I'm nitpicking here, because I was entertained by the movie and all, but...

In the beginning there was a quote about the Chaos theory and basically about how the beating of a butterfly's wings could trigger something Tsunami like across the world (bad paraphrase, I know). I would have liked more subtlety...everything in the movie that was changed was huge and very MTV-ish as far as shock value. I was just thinking it would be an interesting concept that taking a seperate route down the halls of school as a youngster could trigger events that led to a whole different life, friends, wife, etc. I guess the original ending somewhat touches that, but I didn't see that, only saw the director's cut on DVD where he killed himself as a baby.

Great movie. I was really reluctant to watch it but i wasnt disapointed
only problem

Wouldnt he have to changed the last memory first and go from the top to the bottom for the whole idea to work?

My friends say the movie sucked but I know better than to trust in what they say what movie is good or bad. (They usually go for the "Rambo" action type of movies. No plot and lots of action. *sigh*)

I really want to see this movie and from reading here I think I may go buy it or borrow from a friend.

Thanks guys

I really liked the director's cut, but did not realize the theatrical version ended differently. In the version I saw, the womb was the only memory he could trigger to allow him to change it. He has to have access to a memory (a trigger, like his notebook, or - in the end - the video of his birth) and once he goes back, he can act with the intelligence of an adult

Note that he can only change the blackout portions of his life, and that his unique gift is probably why they were blackouts for him -- they are undetermined and changeable events, so it only makes sense he can't remember them.

I doubt I'll be as twisted or bothered by its moral quandaries as I was by David Cronenberg's The Fly...
