NO, unless you intend to run away a LOT and lose all but the PC.
This is tough and the payoff is relatively low... I would do it late in the game. Save first.

. . . . . . . . . . . . The other minor benefit is if you kill a phoenix guard close enough to the bounty hunter there you can relieve him of the gems from the previous sidequest, as well as the guards nearby any explosions that will drop their gear.
