Well I think I have a few of them around the backpack. If you see me online let me know and I will pop down there and get you one.

I am not sure about anyone else but I like scimitars. I am using one that is +5 or +7 with acid damage. I have grown kind of fond of.

If you are of evil alignment then there is a nice scimitar to be had on the haunted isle.

On Lvl 10 is Mord's Longsword one of the best in UM even better than the one in The Proving Grounds imho..

If you like scimitars, level 11 has a couple good ones - if you go talk to Bumbis the Gold Dragon and do his quest you'll get one of them from him for completion, and two Desert Dustmakers from the main bad guy you need to beat to complete the quest. I have a level 34 WM dual wielding scimitars at the moment. Does anyone remember where Melt can be found? I found that with my monk, didn't need it and sold it, but would like to add it to my WM's collection.

Ah yes, the elusive melt...It's really quite simple to find, on lvl 12, just be ready to fight for it, and be cussed out about some mushrooms...Scimmy's in general, I have Melt, the bumbis' one, and the desert dust makers, really like the true seeing on that one...
As for Kukris, there are three in game, Kukri of the master, which has magical dmg, and is +7 enhanced, the Pharaun's, on lvl 8, which is +9, with wounding, easy to overcome the wounding dc, at lvl 40, but the dc on the dev crit she'll have using it...I think the wounding dc is 14?, but her dev crit dc is 41, and she can score a crit on a 10 with a keen one, 13 w/out...also, just a side note, at first I only wanted that one because she didn't have it...The last one is on lvl 12, at the merchant, can't remember the name of it right now, but it's +8 enhancement, with minor fire dmg, and blindness on hit.
As for long swords, I have seen two that impress me, or compare with say the great sword that TDC mentioned. One is the Mordy's sword, the other the drow champion sword. There is a Torms' sword to be found on several lvls, I believe it's +6, but has the bonus of Holy Avenger, so if your a pally, and wanting to use long swords, you should at least have that one, to help remove spell protections, then whack em with Mordy's...IMHO, that is the best longsword in game, and it's just laying around to be found...

Havn't got the third one yet but the first two aren't very good(2d10 damage? my longsword from level 2 does more than that!)

Thanks for the offer T-D-C, but I'd rather get my own sword, if you don't mind

Don't think anyone has mentioned the sonic staff available on lvl 13.

Another on mising is the mace of hellfire, single or dual wielding.

Staff of the dragon is actually a good melee chouice for a mage. It has some decent elemental damage IIRC.
