This whole moralistic issue depends on whether you're a roleplayer or a powergamer. Taran is a powergamer, others here, including me, are roleplayers. So yes, boo hiss from me as well. If it's things like mithril chainmail you're after, you might as well CLUA in a million gold pieces as well as six rings of invulnerability and all the rest. What's the point in going on and completing the game if you need to cheat to do it? You're going to feel a real sense of achievement if you finish the game with illegal armour and a pair of kick-ass scimitars, aren't you? Well, each to their own, but no respect from me here.

What?? How does killing Drizzt for his items have ANYTHING to do with cheating? He is in the game just like any other monster carrying good items. Taran doesn't even necessarily have to be a powergamer to want to kill him for his items. As was said above, he could be chaotic neutral, or chaotic or neutral evil and still be roleplaying their character just fine. Why do you assume that everyone who ever plays BG plays a good aligned character?

Well th meer fact that had it been done properly, and which it sorta is, Drizt should be able to flat out blink and whatch you twitch in pain. A level 14 or 16 (whatever he is) drow ranger with kick arse equipment should be like Eliminster and not even give you the chance.

I consider killing Drizzt for his items cheating, yes. My whole point is that it's not supposed to happen from a roleplaying perspective. You bump into Drizzt in BG II - oops, how did you ever get resurrected again, drow? It's like I say, it's really no skin off my nose, it's all in how you want to play the game. If you want to roleplay you should keep him alive, and if it's power you want, go ahead and shoot the guy. So as you see Arathor, it has nothing to do with being good-aligned, it's about playing the game properly.

What if Malchor came and resurected him? He comes to you in BG2 if you kill him and have his items, doesnt he? so that way, after youre battle with Sarevok, Malchor found his items, used them somehow to bring him back and Drizzt is mad at you in BG2 for killing him in BG1. An explenation of a sort, just to keep down the rising anger.

Yup, BG 2 Dialogue includes saying " I killed you near Baldur's Gate " or something along those lines ... At which time you can also engage in a fair fight against Drizzt.
Although I really dont find summoning a lot of monsters cheating,.. assuming that the BG 1 lack-of-summoning-limit isnt a bug. As long as you use the summons to prevent him from reaching you, it sounds pretty much realistic to me, seriously, where is the cheating ? I wouldnt even call it cheese, since its not even exploiting a bug .. you're simply summoning a whole lot of monster to prevent him from moving right ?

Mayhaps Drizz wouldn´t leave standing there to hack the goblins and such when your party of six are firing arrows from the distance. If he has anything in his brains - tactical-wise - he would jump over the summons and whack you first. Maybe.
