You guys have been a huge help, thanks a ton! I got the tears and did the ritual and now I'm struggling with killing that god-faggot guy but he'll be under soon enough. I'm still debating with whether or not just to "ally" with him and kill the ten innocents. The long and the short is THANKS!!!!

Your encounter with Isair and Madae at the end will be a little easier if you do the ritual, hard as it is to fight Xvim. Note that he is most susceptible to blunt weapons, Lance of Disruption spell (which deals blunt damage), and, if I recall rightly, electricity. I think the blunt weapons need to be +3 or better.

Ok, first of all, keep playing until you encounter Isaar and Madae. When that happen, reload the autosave that was made just before that moment.

Go in your character screen. Look for the button that say "export" it will ask for the name of the file give it a name. Do that for all your characters.

Then go to:

"C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Icewind Dale II\Config.exe"

And in there, put a checkmark next to HOF mode. Start the game.

Start a new game, in the character creation screen, you will notice a button that say Import. Click on it, select the character file you saved earlier. Do that for all your characters.

That's it you are done.

But I really suggest that you kill Isaar and Madae first, THEN reload the autosave and do all that.

One other thing: before exporting your characters, load them up with all the excess weapons and stuff you can manage. Gold does *not* export with your characters, and you will find some nice items for sale at Deirdre's place in HOF mode. Especially the goblin slayer dagger. And the gobbies in HOF drop the same cheap amounts of gold asn normal. So be sure to have plenty of items ready to sell.

Bags of holding, potion bags, etc. don't export, so empty all those first.

I DID IT!!!!

The ending is cheesy, but the way i managed it was even more cheesy....

The party got wiped except for my Paladin and Cleric who were 'dominated'. Eventually, i just ended up running around in circles taking ranged shots at Isair (Madea couldn't be damaged even with +5 arrows or bolts). Run round long enough and the summoned creatures disappear (I had 3 giants chasing me around, thank goodness for boots of speed).....

....eventually..... 'the end' happens.

Next time through, i am going to get use a evil magic user. That Blasphemy spell is just deadly!!!! If my 2 chars were not dominated, i am sure they would have been wiped too!
-------------------------

Ok, finally completed the darn game..... Just a few questions on the possible outcomes....

Things I did.....

1) tainted pool
2) sided with Orrick
3) saved the monks
4) completed the ritual
5) intercepted the envoy

IF I had not done any or some of the above, are there any different outcomes?

My understanding is that the tower is headed for limbo, no matter what, and you still have to fight the twins. However, the second encounter is much harder if the pool isn't tainted, since they can renew themselves in the water.

Also, I remember seeing a message here way back complaining that after siding with Xvim, the guy's party still had to fight summoned demons.

where is the bonding agent? i have looked everywhere.
i have the virulent agent, the demons blood and the tainted demons blood. but i can't find the bonding agent anywhere. admittedly i haven't gone around killing everyone. maybe i could do that but i want to avoid attention.
i know where to mix it and all that

The bonding agent is on the third floor, in the room behind the kitchen. You get there through the dining room with all the demons. A diplomatic character (preferably not a paladin!) can manage this without a fight.
