You know and I know and just about every other veteran know that STR is never an issue in the BG Trilogy past SoA's Chap1. Especially when you solo.

Pfft, I'll take higher base CON over higher base STR any day for a class that has a warrior in it. Besides... there is always the hammer to put in the off-hand whenever you need to backstab.

Elves have a penalty to their CON. A penalty that does not exist for the Halfling( theirs being a STR penalty which is terribly a moot point in the BG Trilogy).

Well the way I look at it is thus (bear in mind, I do powergame, and the purpose of powergaming is to produce the most powerful character possible in the long run):

17 CON to start... +3HP, not exceptional, but bearable.

+1 CON from everyones favourite tome give 18 CON +4HP, matching most human fighters.

Now this is where you need to stay with me... there are two places where we can increase this statistic further in the game (Watchers Keep and Tears). Therefore we can get a total of +3 to CON on top of the 18, giving us a total of 22 CON.

21 to 23 CON inclusive only grants +6HP, so we may as well be an elf warrior, because we end up with the same HP anyway...

This is the 21 Kensai/22 Mage powergamed HP:

NATURAL:

9 x 10HP = 90HP Base
9 x 6HP = 54HP Bonus Con HP
12 x 3HP = 36HP L9-21 as fighter
1 x 1HP = 1HP L22 as mage
1 x 24HP = 24HP high level UAI familiar abuse
1 x 10HP = 10HP evil path for GREED tear
1 x 10HP = Moon DOMT

ITEMS:

1 x 10% TOTAL HP the sexiest Ioun Stone

TOTAL HP: (225 natural x 10%) = 250HP

Not too bad for a 'low con' elf eh

Just recalled that the Elf has race bonuses for using Long Swords( stack it with the Assassin's bonuses), so I will concede this time.

I'll take the halflings bonus to saving throws, especially when soloing, over a +1 to hit with a sword.
