In the circle of chanting guys in Candlekeep, is
there not one saying something about a god
begetting "a score of mortal progeny"?

Is there any indication the number is higher than twenty?

SLIGHT TOB SPOILERS AHEAD
(all those except true purists can go ahead & read it)

The only indications that the total number of children is more than 20 are in the final movie of BG1, the utter *strangeness* of some of the Bhaalspawn you meet in ToB, and also the extreme frequency of the term 'Bhaalspawn' in ToB. Some of these "God-Children" are, to put it bluntly, NOT to be feared. Maybe Alaundo wrote his prophecy to reflect the number of 'mortal progeny' who were actually worth mentioning.

END O' SPOILERS

Stand on the top floor of the Iron Throne and mouse over the railing--it says that it looks as if it has been recently repaired, although Sarevok's diary states that he's known about his heritage for some time. So the hapless soul he chucks off the roof is most likely the first person that Sarevok discovered was a Child of Bhaal. That the guy knew where to find more Bhaalspawn is unlikely--it sounds like something one might say in a moment of desperation, to get the guy to NOT kill you, and Sarevok most likely saw it as such. (Okay, I'm psychoanalyzing a video-game character. Somebody stop me NOW.) Given Sarevok's intense interest in (and amount of research on) the subject, it may very well have been HE who enlightened the guy as to his parentage--just before he killed him, of course.

One of the Prophecies of Alaundo the Seer, Founder of Candlekeep:

The Lord of Murder shall perish;
But he shall leave behind a score of mortal progeny...
Chaos shall reign in their Passing.

Although it might seem like random dialogue from some guys, that little poem haunts the entire BG saga.

SOS, I havent read that, but can we try and keep TOB spoilers off of the board??

I dnt want to see,,and surely, it could be done in Ghost Text if it is concerning TOB/SOA.

Don't worry, it was just a teeny-weeny spoiler that you were probably smart enough to have anticipated already. I have a high sensitivity to spoilage, and I know how to dance around sensitive info, so there's no fear of my letting anything important slip. Although I suppose I could go edit the thing to be in ghost text.....even though it's nothing more than anyone could deduce from the end movie of BG1.
