Umm level 40

Depends on your style. I generally avoid the deathblows, since on those creatures you can normally dispatch them easily enough anyway. A couple Hardnesses are a must however, as it can make all the difference against the hard hitting monsters, and it lasts a nice long time.

I like stock up on greater whirlwinds mostly for melee fighters, as critical hits/knockbacks/stuns are often not useable when ya need em most (big bosses), and its just a pain to chase after the critters when ya send em flying. With my archer I took a couple smites tho...
Warcry is just garbage.. it never works

I wish they would allow multiple Smites, then my solo Archer will be laughing all the way. Unfortunately, you can only have one. I agree though, that Warcry... is a joke.

... Argh.. Smite? No.. I took a couple critical strikes and power attacks. I disliked wasting my precious ammo very fast, and power attack had a not too bad chance of working on normal monsters, making it easier to thin out oncoming crowds... Smite I didn't end up using much, since I always wanted to save it for the "really tough ones" which never seemed to come before I had to rest. Anyway...

I should really have tried to remember what I actually did before posting, since my archer was the first character I took through ToB, when it first came out. After that, I haven't had characters who would want to invest in the power/crit/smite line... All hardiness and whirlwind

*Goes to load up some saves with his archer in them*

Smite is for the battles when you are getting swarmed by a plethora of enemies... You can keep the away and then pound the crap out of another... Saervok fought his way throught Sendai Enclaves slave area with Smite on boy was it ever funny!

Greater Whirlwinds aren't that bad, but I prefer Smite... Of course, you can only get 1 of it. GW is pretty snazy when only using 1 weapon I must say... especially any that can heal (Foebane, Black Razor ect).
