What are the exact alignments that will allow you to work for them?

If your PC is any neutral or evil alignment then you can side with the Tahazzar. If you are any alignment other than lawful or neutral good, then you can side with Ka'Rashur.

I've manged to solo the chromatic demon with a cavalier before and that was challenge enough, but it's just taken me ages to defeat him using a solo beastmaster on insane difficulty (no crom faeyr ) Every hit dealt 1-2 damage, but he was regenerating faster than I could damage him. In the end, I decided to attack with fire, and legged it to see roger the fence in the temple sewers. I bought 3 potions of firebreath and 3 potions of oil of fiery burning and went back to face him again. I cast protection from fire, hardiness and 3 armour of faiths. This gave me 127% resistance to fire and 100% to slashing, crushing and piercing, so for a time I was completely invincible. I made a quick save here, and waited until he became the ice figure (no fire resistance) before releasing him. I opened up with 3 potions of oil burning (each dealing around 15 damage), then hit him with 3 potions of firebreath (each dealing 20-30 damage). Then I got a solid hit with the ring of the ram dealing 25 damage and finished him off with 2 wirlwind attacks using firetooth (2 fire damage per hit) *just* before my armour of faiths ran out! Damn some of these solo battles are hard, especially with the beastmaster in insane

Which makes the accomplishment all the sweeter. I am far, far more proud of my solo Cavalier than my solo Sorcerer, because it was a challenge trying to do it with the Cavalier. I am basically just blowing my way through ToB with my Sorcerer... ...

Oh, by the way. How come when my Chaotic Good Sorcerer talks to the Baatezu's leader( slayer looking demon), he gives me the task to kill the Tanarii, but the very moment the conversation ends, he says something like how he knows that that I am going to betray him and goes hostile on me. Is this a bug?

Hmmm, never heard of him doing that before. Maybe he doesn't like cocky sorcerers that play on insane difficulty

Dundee, he did it to my Chaotic Good mage, so I have to think it's any good alignment. Has anybody tried being mainly good, but sending Jahiera or Viconia to talk to him? Wouldn't work on solo, of course.

The only time I managed to work for the Baatezu was with my roleplaying party, Robin Hood and his merry men( and woman). Everybody was Chaotic Good, except Aerie( Lawful Good) who tagged along.

Sigh... ...

My Neutral Good Blade? No dice either... ...

Maybe the game somehow only allows you to work with the Baatezu if you are roleplaying.

I had the same thing happen when I talked to him. At the end of the conversation, he said something about 'turning on him anyways'. And then they attacked. Maybe they think they can take one good (aligned) character, but not a group. Little did they know.

I've always suceeded when talking to him using my chaotic good PC's. I always have a decent charisma (15+) so it could be that your PC's are lacking charisma if he doesn't belive that you're going to help him. I know that he *hates* paladins, so if you have one in your party then that could also make things go wrong. Just a thought.

No paladin. Solo sorceress. It must be a charisma issue. I have only a 13, so perhaps that is the case.
