I don't know how to explain it, but I'm pretty sure
that's the way it works. I guess if your resistant
to magic and your roll falls below your resistance,
your resistance kicks in, therefore canceling out the
effects of the spell. Fire and cold take the percentage
off of the spell.

A..a..Are you serious? Does magic resistance REALLY cancels the effect? But if so, why fire and cold resistances lower damage I'm confused

i _think_ its because of your saving throws. like some spells say "5X damage, X if save versus spell at -3."

i'm not sure though.

Magic Resistance:
Magic resistance enables a creature to ignore the effects
of spells and spell-like powers. If a creature fails to avoid
a spell due to magic resistance, he or she can still make a
saving throw against that spell to avoid the effects.

First the computer checks against your resistance, if that
passes then the effect of the spell is negated. If it fails,
you can still pass your saving throw.

i think you guys are missing something... when you take the evil path vs Sarevok, you get +2 in your main attribute as well! and that adds on to any strength-enhancing items to a max of 25! so your Half-Orc barbarian can have 23 STR, or your char can have 25 using some poor NPCs holy symbol, the Girdle of Fire Giant Strength, or the Flaming Sword Agruvengal (sp?).
