Nah, Im not a big fan of Clerics. I dont like the weapon restrictions or the THACO. Still you need a healer/stat booster of some sort. I like Branwen though (probably for all the wrong reasons )

Clerics are great. Just make you sure you start with 18 Wisdom and pick up the three Wisdom boosting tomes throughout the game... you'll be absolutely unstoppable in BG II and ToB if you do. So many spells, so many possibilities... I love clerics

Get a good Mace for a Cleric, and then they can handle themselves in Melee...If you ensure they have a good strength!

Or a flail for your cleric. I think you can get a flail+1 at the xvart camp.

Exactly, and with a good strength they can be used as a fighter when you don't need to cast any spells.....Dwarves make the best Cleric race!
