It's a hard fight. Get a cleric to bring up the undead

Bring up all the monsters you can, and then cast DEFENSIVE HARMONY, BLESS, CHANT, AID, HASTE and all the other spells in that genre.

Next, attack full on. You should do alrite.

Battle Horrors, Doom Guards, and the ilk are vulnerable to a good melee character with a good THAC0, good AC, good hitpoints, and a good weapon (I know Blunt & Slashing will hurt them, not sure about Piercing). Also, they're suckers for Magic Missile and my favorite, the Wand of Frost. Buffing spells or poitions wouldn't hurt, though.

Micah Foehammer: Ok I'll take that back about the quest-specific items dissapearing after some time. I was convinced they did, but now that you mention it I have never really tried to find out for sure myself. The thing is: The manual doesn't say that, it just says that everything will dissapear, and also, In my first game, some years ago I lost the "gong Mallet" in DT, thinking it was rubbish. I am one 100% sure I threw it away on the same level where you find it and when I returned in DT some weeks later (gametime) after levelling up my party it wasn't there anymore, I searched for hours and checked every spot thrice, but nothing. Luckily someone on the old Developers Corner Message board mentioned the cheat codes then so I was able to complete the game. But it makes me think: Doesn't that item count as "Quest-specific" and also is there a list somewhere that states all the "Quest-specific" items from the game?

Are you sure you know where you put it? You might have forgotten the right spot.

Yup, totally 100% sure. Cause I remember I tossed it on the floor near one of the warders along with a lot of other stuff. Thinking I could regain it later. (at that time I didn't know about the scavengers)

Well next time put it in a box. That way it'll stay there forever.
