The game is designed in a way that no matter how early you leave for spellhold, its perfectly possible to beat the game. You migth not be able to do everything in underdark, but you can always return later.

the only advice i could give is dont go to island with evil and good characters mixed. first time i played i did that and lost one in underdark.

Nightcrawler: I think my party is completely compatable. They're all of good alignment, except for Jahiera, who's listed as Neutral (but I think she's more of a NG from her personality).
