If you romance Aerie, you can promise her that you'll get her her wings back. Maybe if you follow that dialogue, you could make a mod so that you actually [i]can[i] get them back instead of just giving an empty promise.

Well.. she has been wingless for some time now (even when you find her), so that means there should at least be a timer set if you meet her. This to make the 'regeneration' spell believable AND justifyable.

And how about Wish? It is a spell that allows you to alter reality. In PnP, it allows you to bring someone back from the dead even if you do not have the body, rewrite entire events, etc. By all rights, Wish should be able to restore her wings.

Also, Regenerate does not have a time limit in PnP. You can cast it on an old man that lost his leg in his youth, and it would regrow the leg (it would be old like him, but it would regrow).

That is one of the things that bothers me about Aerie in the game; they took major liberties to set up the character as never being able to get her wings back, but by the game system she would have been able to get them back as soon as she hit 14th level as a cleric completely on her own. It has always annoyed me a little.

Question Mark

Well, all games have limitations. Since the spell Regenerate as it appears in pencil-and-paper is not possible (alterations to the avatars isn't that sophisticated) they simply had to invent a cover story of Aerie. True, in the real AD&D she would have cast Regenerate on herself (or had someone else cast it) and the problem would have been solved.

Let's just accept that computer games are limited.

if ive understood correctly, high leveled characters are rare as hell in the AD&D world, so chances would be that she would never hit level 14, regardless of being an elf...

Theres also the fact that resurection is quite taxing upon the priest. I dont remember exactly what it does to the priest, but it cant be good...

Yes, except pretty much every living thing is over level 14 in BG2. Heck, The Thumb can probably cast Meteor Swarm (I'm exaggerating, of course, but the game is ridiculously overpowered compared to PnP). Thus, there's really no excuse as to why she can't get her wings back. I just think they should have made her a regular elf, maybe one that was enslaved by evil humans or some sort. I think the real reason they made her avariel is because one of the designers went, "you know what would be cool, having a winged elf in the party" (then they reminded him that they didn't have flying coded in, so they came up with the idea of her losing her wings). Then again, it stops questions about why she is running on the ground when she can fly (then again, in Planescape: Torment, you can have a succubus in the party, and she runs along the ground like everyone else).

In 2nd edition, it ages the caster 5 years. In 3rd edition, it costs XP.

I really expected that to be part of the Become A God While Romancing Aerie epilogue. I had already played all the way through a couple of times before romancing Aerie, so I figured when you got the chance to promise to get her wings back, you'd get to keep that promise as part of the ending. But it wasn't - I was a little disappointed.

Get the NPC Flirt Packs. It adds new romance talks into the game, and changes the endings (like allowing you to give Aerie her wings back when you become a god.
