Actually, Lemernis, 3 weapon proficiencies would probably never even be called into play, as almost all Fighter characters put their points into only 2 weapons, one ranged and one melee. Even if Dwarves recieved a bonus with both the Axe and Warhammer, most dwarves would only make use of ONE of those weapons. Sure, Fighter/Thieves could put points into both Axe and Hammer, but you can't backstab with either of them, so that's fair. I wish I could use Gatekeeper to give the guy a THAC0/Damage bonus with Axes and Hammers, but it'll only let me lower his THAC0 with ALL weapons, and that IS unfair....so giving him an extra star in Axe is the best I could do. Does anyone know if Dwaves get a bonus with these weapons in BG2?
As for the possibility of Dwarves being too powerful if they had high CON and a weapons bonus, I'd like to point out that their DEX cap is quite a drawback, as it impairs both their armor class and their skill with ranged weapons. Giving them the Damage/THAC0 bonus wouldn't make them any more powerful than Elves are now. |

I agree, Six. There is undoubtedly an editor at Team BG which allows you to lower the THACO for any particular class of weapons.

Thanks for the info Lemernis. I've only had Gatekeeper for about a week-and-a-half, so tinkering isn't something that I've done much of in BG (that and the fact I haven't finished it yet).
As for Charm/Sleep resistance, I'm sure the manual says that Half-Elves receive some bonuses to them. Don't worry if you don't notice it. Most of the time my lot fail saving throws anyway ![]() One thing I will say is that it's nice to be able to play around with things that you'd like to see changed. For me, the damage that a warhammer does is insufficient in my book. The nonsense of S-M/L damage for weapons is about as useful as weapon type/armour modifiers. AD&D never bothered to mention the affect armour types may have on natural weapons, but pick up three feet of sharpened steel and that gets a penalty young man! Why? He's wearing plate mail. Rubbish. I for one would like more control over a lot of the parameters of the game, if for no other reason then to really have the character I wanted to play all along. ------------------ Making running away an art form |
