Well, that's definately a bug. What you saw was in fact Korgan's response to Jan's story about how his cousin fell in love with dwarven lass and lost his life because she was alergic to turnips.

I havent had that bug myself, this particular banter went smoothly, but had a bug wit Korgan telling me his story about killing his partners(Hogbelly IIRC) twice in a single in-game day, and again couple of in-game days later.
