yes, I thought that too. I only played on hard when I did this. But I only thought the difficult level affected creature damage?

Sounds like the battle is more than twice as hard on insane..

I wonder if the casting is influenced by difficulty level. I play on Insane and I don't think he allows the Physical Mirror to wear off.
ok...I've never ventured to Insane, so maybe that's the difference. hmmm, so does Insane imp. Gaxx cast time stop at all or just to recover when it's injured?

tactics mods don't apply the original difficulty rule. the higher the difficulty level, the monsters/enemies will use more powerful abilites and use them more frequently.

He casts Time Stop, Physical Mirror, Teleport Field every few rounds. Doesn't matter if he is injured or not.

Let me check once again, I have a save somewhere ...
Gaxx does this as well in the less difficult levels. What I meant as "slight opening" was the intervals between time stops. I think Gaxx casts time stop because physical mirror is worn out, and if it's injured, will be cured at the same time. in between time stops, there's a window for ranged attacks to hurt it. that's the time range attacks can join force with the melee or magical attacks.

btw, I use "it" to refer to Gaxx because I don't know whether there's gender issue to a floating, demi-lich skull

Well, he also adds Spell Trap in the Time stop.
I couldn't hit him with MMM's anytime. Not in the Time Stop, not in between Time Stops.

I may try some not cheesy SI:Abj, SI:Alt, ... next time, but when I play my next NRP, I'll use the green scroll for sure. I'll do it fair, no simmy tricks.

yes, it does cast spell trap as well. I'll not stop shooting MMMs at it though, even if your PC or NPC keeps telling that his/her weapon does nothing...with constant and massive MMMs, it will get hurt somehow.

for NRP, outcheese that floating skull is a safter bet

well, in my reload games, I still need to resort to one green scroll
