I know that it's a Fallen Deva, it's just easier to skip the Fallen part.

I'm roleplaying, so I can't take them in for EXP and kick them out. I want to level on the second floor, and get the Summon Air elemental scroll, but they're blocking the damn library! I can try going around...

Btw, do any of them use normal weapons? I found a scroll of PfNW on a goblin north of the genie (Aataaq?)

ADD] Apparently, the golem can't hit me because it's fists are normal weapons. Oh, and I killed the Neophyte...whew. It was the easiest one -.-

ADD2] Golem is dead, but the whole gang went around the library and flanked me. I'm now stuck in Reilev's room, with them outside...I'm trying to trap someone (namely Zhivago/Illy) in either this room or the golem room. Sigh...

Zhivago is dead! Yay! I summoned Phase Spiders and Webbed the area...they poisoned him, and I used Melf's Acid Arrow and the Minute Meteors. Now only Illy and the WS are left. Illy is giving me the most trouble so far, he does way too much damage. What to do, what to do...

ADD] Illy died! I noticed that he passed through the corridor connecting the library and his room often...4 skull traps, and 2 spiders acting as decoys. This brought him to Near Death; I Acid Arrowed him, and he died while chasing me ^.^ Only the WS is left.

ADD2] SUCCESS! I've defeated them all! Mwahahaha. Skull Traps and Acid Arrows make an excellent combination Now, I can level in peace...ahh.

I feel like an idiot. After wasting so much time defeating that group, I die...in the Mephit portal room (near Yoshi). I hate those little bastards. First, one uses Color Spray, knocking me out. Then, the other three proceed to bite me to death...except for the Fire/Magma one, he shot fire at me. So much for my no-reload game -.-

I guess I'll start over as a Fighter->Mage...the one from ToB. I don't think that Dual-Weilding is a good decision for no-reloads, though...I want to use the Axe of the Unyeilding and Blackrazor. Opinions?

Come to think of it, I could try my Cavalier again...shields

Dual-wielding is not as big of a deal for a fighter-mage as it is for a pure-melee type. You can use spells such as Stoneskin, Blur, Mirror Image, and PfMW in order to make up for the fact that you aren't using a shield. I never have a problem with a dual-wielding fighter/mage, but I tend to gear myself towards total offense.

Nevermind. I've just looked at a thread about resistances...something like "Dundee Slaytern's musings about the Defender of Easthaven". The Barbarian can obtain more than 100% resistance for everything except elemental damage Guess what I'm going to do now?

What should I use? The DoE will be in my off-hand, but for my on-hand...the Axe of the Unyeilding? DISREGARD. I'm using the wonderful hammer

Look at the bottom of the page-Jim's post.

Yeah, come on Pyrenk ! Even Alson died a couple of times when he first started this "crazyness" of a no-reload game.

I never said I quit permanently

Can a Barbarian solo them?

ADD] The challenge doesn't bother me; I like it, and as I said before, I need it. However, having 5+ hours of play ruined because of a stupid mistake isn't my thing

Actually, I was only talking about the death of your sorcerer. One death and you decide to change class. And I feel that your chances of succes are much higher with the sorcerer than with the barbarian (I mean, without storm giant potions the guy can't even break a lock let alone find a trap).

That's in the beginning of the game. You can find this through the link I posted:

Further ramblings:

Regarding your first post Dundee, you said the above about the DoE, however, since missiles are piercing weapons, and the DoF grants 20% resistance to piercing weapons, you are effectively recieving the 20% resistance to missile weapons too

Quote:
Isn't there a helmet in Watcher's Keep that grants some resistances as well( is it physical resistance?
I think you mean the helm of the rock, wicked as it is though, it only grants some elemental resistance (25% IIRC), not physical unfortunately.

Final ramblings:

If you consider a barbarian with 20% resistance, equiped with the DoE for another 20%, he/she will have a permament:

Slashing 40%
Crushing 40%
Piercing 40%
Missile 40%

Now lets equip the Ronarchs Horn (i'm certain this is found on Gromnir's body along with a couple of flails and a Ioun stone) to get the 50% crushing resistance:

Slashing 40%
Crushing 90%
Piercing 40%
Missile 40%

Now lets assume that were dualing the DoE with Crom Faeyr (i.e. no girdle of strength needed) and so we equip the belt of inertial barrier to recieve the magic damage and missile benefits:

Slashing 40%
Crushing 90%
Piercing 40%
Missile 65%
Magic Damage 50%

And while we're at it we can equip the cloak of mirroring:

Slashing 40%
Crushing 90%
Piercing 40%
Missile 65%
Magic Damage 100%

Wow this is looking good. lets now assume that people are using the David Gaider's HLA for ToB. If we take the evil path for challenge number 4, the character recieves a permament +25% resistance to slashing, crushing and piercing:

Slashing 65%
Crushing 115%
Piercing 65%
Missile 90%
Magic Damage 100%

Check those out for permament resistances!! You are now healed everytime you get clobbered with a blunt weapon! Finally, applying hardiness boosts them to:

Slashing 105%
Crushing 127% (127 is the max)
Piercing 105%
Missile 127%
Magic Damage 100%

Therefore we have achieved invincibility!! Just make sure that you choose plenty of hardiness HLA's once you get past level 20 and you're laughing. This is only physical and magical damage invincibility though. The elements are still damaging at this point, although there are a number of rings which could be equiped to boost these too (as well as those granted by taking the good path in hell).
Look at the resistances. The only thing that will be able to hurt him is elemental damage, and, as Jim said, you can more or less cover those. Sure, Barbs don't have as much power, but if I'm immortal...

After all, the most important thing in a No-Reload game is not dying, right?
